You couldn't get a more personal service than with antica. Not knowing much about marble i had image in my head and that's what i wanted. From the minute i walked into antica's beautiful showrooms i was enlightened and given a full education - not to mention the tea and biscuits from it's owner and expert Paddy. Between himself and the other girl Sonya they talked me through my options - i ended up with a limestone in the end! right through to the payment and delivery(which had a turnaround time of 4 weeks from inital order)i couldn't fault them one bit. They took the time to give me all my options and at no point did they give me the hard sell(which i hate) i would definatly recommend a look - i would also love the solid stone bath but alas not for a few years!! ....... Initial impressions were good with Antica in their brochures and staff, until we got delivery of the Floor Tiles! The Italian limestone tiles were not to the standard expected. The tiler who was to lay them, also an Italian incidentally, said that they were of very poor quality. Specifically :
- Huge variation in colour, even allowing that they were natural stone. Not from the same block of stone, maybe not from the same quarry.
- Chipping, pitting, and scratches of the stone surface. More than 50% of tiles received had these defects.
- Variation in the depth of the stone.
Antica refused to admit there was anything wrong with the tiles, and said that we must have chipped them moving them into the house. After many months of wrangling, they agreed to take back and refund only those tiles which were not chipped.
This left us severely disappointed, out of pocket, and having to source alternative tiles.
A thoroughly unhappy experience!
Buyers beware and examine all tiles immediately on delivery.
